Women's Basketball To Open NCAA Tournament Against Wisconsin-Whitewater

The Hope College women's basketball team is headed to the Cincinnati area this weekend to tip off the NCAA Division III Tournament.

The Flying Dutch landed an at-large berth and will compete in the four-team pod at Thomas More College in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

Hope (22-4) will play Wisconsin-Whitewater (21-5) in a first-round game Friday at 5 p.m. The winner will face either Thomas More (27-0) or Eureka, Illinois (20-7) in a second-game game Saturday at 6 p.m.

Ticket prices will be $7 for adults and $4 for senior citizens and students, while children ages two and under are free.  Tickets will be available at the door and the doors will open on Friday at 4 p.m. and on Saturday at 5 p.m. There will be no pregame sale.

A total of 200 tickets has been set aside for Hope fans and will be available at the door.

Saturday's winner advances to sectional play on March 10-11. Four sectional winners will advance to the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship is March 17-18 at Calvin College.

The Flying Dutch are making their sixth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and 18th overall. They lost in the first round last year to Carnegie-Mellon, Pennsylvania.

Head coach Brian Morehouse has guided Hope to 16 trips to the NCAA Tournament, including a national title run in 2006 and a national runner-up finish in 2010.
