Men's Tennis Edges Adrian To Keep Share Of MIAA Lead

The Hope College men's tennis team made a weekday drive worth the long round-trip on Monday by claiming a 5-4 win at Adrian.

The Flying Dutchmen remained undefeated in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play with their third league victory.

Hope (6-8 overall) is tied for first place in the MIAA with Kalamazoo. The Flying Dutchmen's next match is at home on Thursday, April 13 against Kalamazoo.

Against Adrian (10-6, 2-1 MIAA), Hope served up wins in two doubles flights and three singles flights.

Senior captain Sam Kreps of Holland, Michigan (Holland HS) earned the Flying Dutchmen two points with wins at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles with sophomore Justin Folkert of Hamilton, Michigan (Hamilton).

Sophomores Michael Kiley of Muskegon, Michigan (Mona Shores) and Mark VanderStoep of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa) won a 9-8 (8-6) thriller at No. 1 doubles.

Other singles winners for Hope were sophomores Christian Rhoades of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian) and Andrew Klein of Augusta, Michigan (Kalamazoo Christian).
