Hope College baseball is mourning the passing of former outfielder Drew Carmody this week.
The 2011 Hope College graduate and former All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association outfielder for the Flying Dutchmen died unexpectedly on Wednesday at his home. He was 27.
Carmody was living in St. Joseph, Michigan. He was married to Julia LaBounty '14, who played softball for 1 ½ seasons at Hope.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 23 from 2-4 p.m. at Pike Funeral Home, 9191 Red Arrow Highway in Bridgman.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 24 at Pike Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Spring Run Cemetery in Royalton Township.
Memorial donations can be made to First Assembly of God, International in Haiti Fund, 6500 Blue Star Highway in South Haven.
Carmody played in 128 games over four seasons for the Flying Dutchmen, including 112 starts. He was an All-MIAA first-team selection his senior season after hitting .326 with 30 runs scored and 15 RBIs.
