The Hope College football team tops the 2017 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Football Coaches Poll.

Coach Peter Stuursma's Flying Dutchmen are the preseason favorite to claim the league title after leading seven teams with nine points.

Hope received three of six possible first-place votes. Coaches could not vote for their own teams.

The Flying Dutchmen are coming off a 7-3 overall record last season that marked the biggest turnaround in the team's 107-season history with a five-win improvement.

Hope kicks off the 2017 season on Saturday, September 2 at Monmouth, Illinois.

The Flying Dutchmen's league opener is Saturday, September 30 at Olivet.
