Women's Soccer Downs Milwaukee School Of Engineering In Season Debut

Allie Wittenbach's goal with 28 seconds remaining sealed a 4-2, season-opening win for the Hope College women's soccer team at Milwaukee School of Engineering on Friday.

The Flying Dutch received goals from four different players in the nonleague win.

Hope never trailed after striking for two goals midway through the first half. Sophomore Abbey Przekop of Novi, Michigan (Mercy HS) opening the scoring 23 minutes, 17 seconds into the first half with an unassisted goal.

Seven minutes later, junior Grace Bubin of Rockford, Michigan (Rockford) extended the lead to 2-0 lead after junior Eliza Beird of Holland, Michigan (Black River) set her up after a failed MSOE clearing attempt.

Senior Erin Brophy of West Lafayette, Indiana (West Lafayette) added her 19th career goal 9:40 into the second half. Junior Rylie Dalton of Rockford, Michigan (Rockford) had the assist.

Wittenbach, pictured, a senior from Ada, Michigan (Forest Hills Central), closed the scoring with her 20th career goal. Brophy had the assists — the 19th of her career and breaking an eighth-place tie with Tracy Phelps (1993-96).

Hope returns to action on Saturday, September 2 with a noon Central match against Lake Forest, Illinois at MSOE.
