Christian Dault saw the errant pass roll up field in overtime and took off on a long run for the Hope College men's soccer team.
The junior from Grand Haven, Michigan (Grand Haven HS) got to the ball first, deked a defender and booted a left-handed blast underneath the Kalamazoo goalie for a 1-0, double-overtime victory on Wednesday at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.
Dault's third goal of the season ended the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association opener 1 minute, 16 seconds into the second 10-minute, sudden-victory overtime period.

Hope improved to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in MIAA play.
The two teams played a scoreless 90 minutes of regulation for the second time in as many matches at Van Andel Soccer Stadium. They had a scoreless draw last season on October 25.
Sophomore keeper Blair McCormick of Wadsworth, Illinois (Warren Township) made seven saves against Kalamazoo (1-3-1, 0-1 MIAA) for the shutout.
