A blistering second half propelled the 19th-ranked Hope College women's soccer team to a 4-0 win against visiting Calvin on Saturday and back atop the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association standings.

Amid 80-degree temperatures, the Flying Dutch struck for four goals after halftime at Van Andel Soccer Stadium to claim victory in The Rivalry.

Hope rebounded from Thursday's last-second loss at Kalamazoo to improved to 6-1 overall and 4-1 in MIAA play.

The Flying Dutch lead Kalamazoo and Calvin by one-half game in the league standings. Kalamazoo plays at Trine tomorrow.

Junior Grace Bubin of Rockford, Michigan (Rockford HS) opened the scoring in the 50th minute by putting home a loose ball in the box following a free kick. It was her fourth goal of the season.

Junior Rylie Dalton of Rockford, Michigan (Rockford) chipped in her third goal of the season off an assist from reigning MIAA Offensive Player of the Week, junior Hilary Curry of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grandville Calvin Christian), for a 2-0 lead seven minutes later.

Dalton then assisted on the second goal of the season for junior Rachael Braginton of Grandville, Michigan (Grandville) in the 66th minute.

Senior Allie Wittenbach of Ada, Michigan (Forest Hills Central) closed the scoring in the 77th minute with her third goal of the season. Junior Murphy Stadelmaier of Midland, Michigan (H.H. Dow) had the assist.

Saturday's shutout was the fifth of the season for Hope. Freshman goalie Jordanne Ellingboe of Grand Haven, Michigan (Grand Haven HS) did not need to make a save as the Flying Dutch outshot Calvin 24-3.
