The Hope College men's soccer team erupted for a season-high five goals in a 5-0 victory against Olivet College Saturday night at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.
Junior forward Jordan Hooker of Grand Rapids, Michigan (East Grand Rapids HS) scored twice as the Flying Dutchmen remained in a second-place tie in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association standings.
Hope (4-4 overall, 3-1 MIAA) joins Adrian College one game behind first-place Calvin.
Junior forward Christian Dault of Grand Haven, Michigan (Grand Haven) opened the scoring with his team-leading fourth goal of the season 10 ½ minutes into the match. He headed home a cross from junior midfielder Ryan Woodside of Bloomington, Illinois (Normal Community).
Hooker, pictured, then delivered two goals in a span of 5:15 before the half ended for a 3-0 lead. Hooker's second goal of the game came from an assist by junior defender James Reymann of Columbus, Ohio (Worthington Kilbourne).
After halftime, Reymann added a second assist on a goal for senior midfielder David White of Vernon Hills, Illinois (Vernon Hills) 11 minutes into the second half.
Sophomore defender Holden Dippel of Mason, Michigan (Mason) chipped in his first goal of the season 5 ½ minutes later. Sophomore midfielder Dalton Bruso of Bloomington, Illinois (Normal Community) had the assist.
The Flying Dutchmen only allowed one shot on goal to Olivet (1-6-2, 0-2-2 MIAA). Sophomore Stephen Wilbur of Fenton, Michigan (Flint Powers Catholic) earned the win in 78 minutes of play.
