The 22nd-ranked Hope College women's soccer team continued its sizzling play on a hot Saturday afternoon at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.

Amid temperatures in the low-90s, the Flying Dutch downed Alma College 3-0 on Youth Day for their eighth victory and seventh shutout of the season.

Hope improved to 8-1 overall and a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association-leading 6-1 in league play.

Goals for the Flying Dutch came from three different players, beginning with Rylie Dalton's fourth goal of the season 17 minutes, 13 seconds into the first half.

The junior midfielder from Rockford, Michigan (Rockford HS) buried a rebound into the net after Alma keeper Kelsey Postema made an initial save.

The teams took mandated water breaks midway through each half because of the heat index.

The Flying Dutch extended their lead to 2-0 when freshman midfielder Audrey White of Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville) placed a shot from 15 yards out just under the crossbar. White's third goal of the season garnered an assist for junior forward Rachael Braginton of Grandville, Michigan (Grandville).

Hope added the fourth goal of the season from junior Hilary Curry of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grandville Calvin Christian) 1:44 into the second half. Dalton recorded the assist, her team-leading fourth.

Freshman goalie Jordanne Ellingboe of Grand Haven, Michigan (Grand Haven) needed to make only one save for her fifth shutout of the season.
