Hilary Curry struck twice in a 60-second span to boost the Hope College women's soccer team to a 3-0 win at Albion and a successful Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association opener on Wednesday.
The junior from Grandville, Michigan (Calvin Christian HS) broke a scoreless twice with two quick unassisted goals shortly after halftime. Curry is pictured at right.
The Flying Dutch improved to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in MIAA play.
Curry's first two goals of the season came 7:17 and 8:17 into the second half.
Sophomore forward Abbey Przekop of Novi, Michigan (Mercy) added her team-leading fourth goal of the season with 1 minute, 46 seconds remaining.
Senior midfielder Erin Brophy of West Lafayette, Indiana (West Lafayette) recorded her second assist of the season on the goal.
Brophy's 19th career assist broke a tie for eighth place in Flying Dutch history with Tracy Phelps (1993-96).
Freshman goalie Jordanne Ellingboe of Grand Haven, Michigan (Grand Haven) posted a shutout in her first career start. She made one save against Albion, now 1-2 overall and 0-1 against MIAA opponents.
