Men's Tennis Defeats Trine In Final Regular-Season Home Match

The Hope College men's tennis team moved into a third-place tie in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association standings with a 7-2 victory against Trine on Wednesday at DeWitt Tennis Center.

The Flying Dutchmen swept the three doubles matches and won the top four singles flights en route to upping their record to 4-2 in MIAA play and 7-2 overall.

Four from Hope claimed two points apiece with singles and doubles victories:

  • Sophomore Danny Kroeze of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian HS) at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles

  • Junior Mark VanderStoep of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa) at No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles

  • Junior Michael Kiley of Muskegon, Michigan (Mona Shores) at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles

  • Junior Timothy Roe of Bakersfield, California (Frontier) at No. 4 singles and No. 3 doubles

Hope's regular-season finale is Monday, April 23 at Alma.

The Flying Dutchmen have clinched a berth in the May 3-4 MIAA Tournament to play for a spot in the NCAA Division III Tournament.
