Hope College's Timothy Roe has been named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
The junior from Bakersfield, California (Frontier HS) is recognized after helping the Flying Dutchmen win two matches last week during the MIAA Tournament and claim their first NCAA Division III Tournament berth in 21 years.
In Hope's 5-1 win at Calvin in the MIAA Tournament title match Friday, Roe served up points at at No. 3 doubles and the match-clinching point with a 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles.
In the Flying Dutchmen's 5-0 win vs. visiting Adrian in Thursday's semifinal at Etheridge Tennis Complex, Roe tallied 8-4 No. 3 doubles win and led 6-4, 3-0 at No. 4 singles when the match ended.
