Box Score by Eva Dean Folkert
A Senior Day game was won on a goal by a Hope College senior.
The fitting outcome was the result of Audrey White (Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville HS), pictured right, scoring the Hope College women's soccer team's lone goal in the Flying Dutch's 1-0 win over Albion College on Thursday.
The home win improves Hope's record to 1-1 while the Britons fall to 1-2.
Prior to the game, seven Hope seniors were honored for their careers as Flying Dutch soccer players: Corinne Cole, Dana Dunning, Maria Egloff, Jordanne Ellingboe, Brinley Nieuwenhuis, Mekenna VanKoevering, and White.

Midfielder White's goal came on Hope's first shot in the game. After a well-positioned corner kick by freshman Jenna Mustapha (Rockford, Mich./Rockford HS) pin-balled a bit in the box, White took aim at a deflection and scored unassisted in the ninth minute.
Though Albion led in every offensive statistical category — shots (11-5), shots on goal (6-4) and corners (5-3) — the game was tightly contested throughout, with each team spending a fair amount attacking the other's side of the field. The Flying Dutch kept driving back the Britons with capable defense and aggressive offense.
In goal, Ellingboe made six saves for the Flying Dutch.
Hope travels to Adrian College next Tuesday, April 6 for its next MIAA game. Kickoff is 3 p.m.
