Men's Soccer Edged by Albion

The Hope College men's soccer team was edged, 1-0, at Albion College on Saturday.

Despite outshooting the Britons by an 18-4 margin, the Flying Dutchmen fell to 5-4-6 overall and 3-2-1 in MIAA play.

Hope and Albion are tied for second place in the MIAA standings with 10 points. Trine University can move ahead of both teams with a victory at Alma College on Sunday, Oct. 23, at 1 p.m.

There is one game remaining in the regular season. The top six teams qualify for the MIAA Tournament; regular-season champion Calvin University has clinched one of two first-round byes.

The MIAA Tournament quarterfinals are on Saturday, Oct. 29, with the third- and fourth-place teams hosting games.

Albion (7-6-2, 3-2-1 MIAA) broke a scoreless tie at 35:11 of the first half on Jonathan Euceda's ninth goal of the season.

Goalkeeper Anton Favre made six saves against the Flying Dutchmen (5-4-6, 3-2-1 MIAA).

Hope hosts Alma College in the regular-season finale on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 7 p.m. at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.
