The Hope College men's basketball team fell to Manchester University, 90-70, as the Spartans notched a loss into the orange and blue's season on Saturday afternoon.
The Flying Dutchmen are now 6-3 overall as the hot streak for Manchester continues with a fifth consecutive win.
Junior Tanner Wiegerink led the Flying Dutchmen with 18 points to mark a season-best for the forward. Wiegerink went 6-8 in the field, shot 50% from behind the three-point line and a perfect 4-4 at the free throw line. The Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa HS) native snatched 12 rebounds for a team-high as well as a season-best.
Freshman Marcus Wourman (Lansing, Michigan / East Lansing) posted 16 points, sending 7 of 14 shots from the field in for Hope. Sophomore Gabe Quillan (Ada, Michigan / Grand Rapids Catholic Central) grabbed 13 points against Manchester with a 71.4 shooting percentage from the field.
The Flying Dutchmen did not go down without a fight, as they posted 46 second-half points to the Spartans' 49 second-half points.
Manchester was led by Ty Wynas and Logan Willoughby, each grabbing 17 points to snap Hope's two-game winning streak.
The Flying Dutchmen return to action back at DeVos Fieldhouse on Wednesday, December 21 at 7 p.m to take on North Central (Ill.) College.
