Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | Mackenzie McMahon

Women's Basketball Downs Wittenberg, Remains Undefeated

The Hope College women's basketball team powered through the Tigers of Wittenberg University to tally their seventh win of the season, 86-64, on Saturday afternoon at DeVos Fieldhouse.

"I think that was a very good team," said head coach Brian Morehouse

Senior Claire Baguley notched a career-high point day with 19 points in the victory that helped keep Hope undefeated, while her two fellow seniors Savannah Feenstra and Ella McKinney put up double figure points as well. McKinney (Haslett, Michigan / Haslett HS) had a game-high 24 points, while Feenstra (Osceola, Indiana / Northwood) posted 16 points for Hope.

Baguley (Ada, Michigan / Forest Hills Central) fired up the crowd and the bench as she sunk a buzzer beater shot from the field to end the first half, however, Wittenberg was hungry and kept up with the Flying Dutch, each tallying 23 points in the third quarter.

The Flying Dutch finished out the game strong over Wittenberg as they soared in 20 key free throws while picking up key offensive and defensive rebounds to keep the Tigers at bay.

"I'm proud to come out with two wins against two teams that are really good and are going to have chances to play in the National Championship, and that's what really mattered this week," said Morehouse.

Junior Carlee Crabtree (Coldwater, Michigan / Coldwater) picked up three steals in the win, while Baguley and senior Kate Majerus (Sycamore, Ilinois / Sycamore) each grabbed a team-high five rebounds.

Hope hits the court again on Thursday, December 8 as they welcome Great Lakes Christian College to DeVos Fieldhouse at 7 p.m.
