by Mackenzie McMahon

Hope College's Kenedy Schoonveld has been selected as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week.

The senior from Zeeland, Michigan (Holland Christian HS) is receiving this honor for the fifth time in her career, and the third time this season.

Schoonveld accumulated 26 total points in two games for the Flying Dutch in victories over Adrian (100-54), and Kalamazoo (94-23).

The social work major and spanish minor averaged 13 points, 3.5 rebounds, in the two wins for the NCAA No.2-ranked women's basketball team.

In the 75-45 win over Adrian, Schoonveld shot 60 percent from the field, 100% percent from behind the three-point line after sinking both attempts, put in both free throw attempts, while also grabbing three rebounds, and tallying 16 total points for the Flying Dutch.

During the 94-23 victory against Kalamazoo that gave them a share of the MIAA regular season title, the senior guard grabbed 18 points while shooting 100 percent from the field, the free throw line, as well as in the three-point range. Schoonveld tallied four rebounds in the win, and dished out four assists.
