The Hope College men's basketball team took down Adrian College, 82-68, at DeVos Fieldhouse on Saturday.
The Flying Dutchmen improved to 15-5 overall and 8-1 in MIAA conference play. This win over fellow MIAA league member Adrian kept Hope College in the outright lead of the league, and a half game lead ahead of Calvin University in the standings.
Hope dominated in free throw percentage, field goal percentage, and points in the paint.
Sophomore Tanner Wiegerink (Holland, MI / West Ottawa HS) put in 14 points and went 5-5 in field goals, 2-2 from the three-point range, and 2-2 at the line for the Flying Dutchmen.
With 45 team rebounds and 20 turnovers for Adrian, the Hope College men's basketball team truly disrupted the Bulldog's winning plans.
"It's kind of our word, disrupt, the stuff they want to run, we worked really hard to take that away and not let them get into their sets, and I think throughout the whole first half we did that really well," said junior Evan Thomas.
Thomas (Okemos, MI / Okemos), pictured right, led the Flying Dutchmen in the win with 18 points. The junior guard shot 43% from the field and went 6-9 at the line to help Hope grab 82 total points.
Senior Tyler George grabbed 14 points for Hope College. George (Ada, MI / Forest Hills Central) went 5-5 at the free throw line.
The Flying Dutchmen head out on the road to take on Trine University on Wednesday, Feb. 9, with a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.
