The Hope College men's tennis team had a double header match day against Salisbury University and University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Tuesday.
Both matches ended in 7-2 losses for the Flying Dutchmen.
In the match against Salisbury, the No. 1 and No. 2 singles spots picked up points. Junior Jacob Burkett (Clarkston, Michigan / Clarkston HS) tallied 7-6 and 10-7 wins after a first set loss 6-2 to overcome his opponent. Junior Cameron Coates (Stevensville, Michigan / Laurel Springs), pictured right, also picked up a win against Salisbury after tallying a 7-6 win in the first set, dropping the second set 6-4, and coming back for the win with a 10-4 third set win.
In the 7-2 loss to Wisconsin-Eau Claire, No. 3 doubles and No. 5 singles grabbed the wins for Hope.
Coates and senior Tyler Koran (Salinas, California / Salinas) snagged the win, 8-6, in the third doubles slot. Freshman Austin Becksvoort (Holland / Holland Christian) earned the win in the No. 5 singles spot. After the first set gave him a 7-5 loss, Becksvoort came back and won the next two sets 6-4 and 10-4 wins.
The men's tennis squad is back on the court versus Albion on Saturday, March 26 at the DeWitt Tennis Center.
