Seth Walters scored his third goal of the season to help the Hope College men's soccer team pick up the tie against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
Walters evened the score against Rose-Hulman 42 and a half minutes into the first half. The home team took the lead just 1:10 into gameplay, while the second half stalemate ended with Hope's fifth tie of the season.
The freshman from St. Joseph Michigan (St. Joseph HS) garnered the help of teammates junior Paulo Alcala (Kalamazoo, Michigan / Kalamazoo Central) and sophomore Thomas DeVries (Byron Center, Michigan / South Christian) on the game-tying goal.
Five ties for the Flying Dutchmen this season marks the most in a single season in men's soccer history. Three seasons of Hope soccer have recorded four ties in a single season; 2003, 2011, and 2008.
Sophomore Daniel Hesselbein (Barrington, Illinois / Barrington Community) made four saves in the sixth game of the 2022 season to keep the score even and get the tie.
Hope finishes out their five game road streak at Carthage College on Wednesday, September 21 at 4 p.m. before returning home on Saturday, September 24 to Van Andel Soccer Stadium to face off with Heidelberg University.
