The Hope College women's soccer team struck first as senior Emma Dutmers tapped in her third of the season past the Central goaltender.
The environmental studies major from Traverse City, Michigan (Traverse City Central HS) extended her scoring to two games with her shot coming in the aftermath of a corner kick for Hope.Â
It was a battle of the Dutch against the Flying Dutch as just six minutes later, the visiting squad would find a shot of their own that hit the back of the net, up high and away from Hope netminder, Parker Hutchinson.Â
Following the orange and blue's only goal, the Flying Dutch would serve out twenty more shots, while controlling the play for the majority of the game, but unable to connect with a second goal.Â
The Flying Dutch led in shots with 28, to Central's 13. Junior goalkeeper Parker Hutchinson (Ada, Michigan / Forest Hills Northern) recorded six saves in the tie.Â
The women remain at home, as they look to host Knox College on Thursday, September 8 with a 4 p.m. start at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.Â
