The fourth-ranked Hope College volleyball team picked up win number 24 in dominating fashion as the Flying Dutch took down The University of Olivet in three sets on the road on Wednesday night.Â
The 25-11, 25-16, 25-15 road win gave the Flying Dutch a share of the MIAA regular-season title as well as the top seed for next week's league tournament.
The MIAA title is the 15th in program history. Hope (24-2, 7-0 MIAA) can clinch an outright MIAA championship on Saturday, Nov. 4, at 4 p.m. against Adrian College on Senior Day at DeVos Fieldhouse. It is the regular-season finale for both teams.
At Olivet, The Orange and Blue finished the match with a season-high .533 hitting percentage as a team, while holding the Comets to a .152 hitting percentage.Â
Junior Addie VanderWeide (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Grand Rapids Christian HS) led the attack with a match-high 14 kills on the night.
Freshman Kamryn Burbridge (Grand Haven, Michigan / Grand Haven) sent off 12 kills.
Junior Liz VanderSlice (Wyoming, Michigan / Grandville) slammed 9 kills to the court.
Burbridge and VanderWeide collected two blocks apiece.
Senior Olivia Fiebing (Traverse City, Michigan / Central) led things defensively with a match-high 13 digs. Fiebing. along with sophomore setter Lauren Lee (Plymouth, Michigan / Skyline), each had a team-high two aces.Â
Lee contributed 35 assists.
