Box Score The Flying Dutchmen brought home a thrilling win over Augustana College (Ill.) on Saturday at DeWitt Tennis Center with a 5-4 win.
The one-point win saw Hope tallying wins in two of three doubles matches to bring the team's overall record to 2-4.
No. 1 and No. 2 doubles saw wins from seniors Jacob Burkett (Clarkston, Michigan / Clarkston HS) and Cameron Coates (Stevensville, Michigan / Laurel Springs) with an 8-6 win, as well as an 8-3 win from senior Tyler Stafford (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Grand Rapids Christian) and senior partner Matt Henkel (Traverse City, Michigan / Traverse City Central).
The Flying Dutchmen's lead after doubles play held up as the teams split their six singles matches.
Burkett brought home more points for Hope as he defeated his Augustana opponent at No. 1 singles with 7-6 (3) and 6-2 wins.
Stafford put up two more points for the Flying Dutchmen as he outlasted for the win at No. 2 singles, making a comeback victory after dropping the first set.
Sophomore Austin Becksvoort (Holland, Michigan / Holland Christian) also had a hand in securing two points for Hope with a 6-1 and 6-2 win in the No. 6 singles spot.
Hope travels to Orlando, Florida, for spring break and will face off with Trinity College (Conn.) on Tuesday, March 21, at 8:30 a.m. at the USTA Training Center.
