Claire Baguley Chosen to Academic All-America® Women's Basketball Teams

Hope College's Claire Baguley has earned a spot among an elite group of Hope College women's basketball student-athletes as an Academic All-American.

The senior forward is a member of the 2022-23 Academic All-America® women's basketball teams as selected by the College Sports Communicators.

Baguley is among five third-team honorees and 15 named as an NCAA Division III Academic All-America® overall.

The environmental science major is the Flying Dutch basketball team's sixth College Sports Communicators Academic All-American.

Baguley joins Olivia Voskuil (2021), Kenedy Schoonveld (2021), Maura McAfee (2016), Megan Kelley (2014), and Kari Nysse (1996) as Hope's recipients.

"Claire arrived at Hope as an excellent student. I think she only grew further while at Hope with some incredible experiences with student-faculty research and some great mentors on campus," head coach Brian Morehouse said. "Combined with her incredible work ethic, I think Hope was a great match for her — not just academically but also athletically with her athletic drive and determination."

In her first season as a starter, Baguley averaged a career-high 12.4 points per game this season while shooting a career-best 62.7% from the field and 54.7% from 3-point range.

Baguley helped the Flying Dutch post a 26-3 record this season. The Flying Dutch reached the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament, won an MIAA Tournament title and claimed a share of the MIAA regular-season championship.

Baguley also was named to the D3hoops.com All-Region Second Teams and to the All-MIAA First Team.

This fall, Baguley plans to attend medical school.
