Men's Lacrosse Topped by Illinois Wesleyan

The Hope College men's lacrosse team fell at Illinois Wesleyan University, 20-14, on Wednesday.

Sophomore midfielder David Brace (Plymouth, Michigan / Plymouth HS) scored three goals to lead the Flying Dutchmen, who slipped to 3-4 on the season.

Illinois Wesleyan (4-3) broke open a close game after halftime. The Titans scored the first four goals of the second half and led 14-9 with 4 minutes, 52 seconds remaining in the third quarter.

Illinois then reeled off six consecutive games between the final 49 seconds of the third quarter and midway through the fourth quarter.

Connor Kiichle and Trystan Seeley topped Illinois Wesleyan with five goals apiece.

Hope received two goals and three assists from sophomore attacker Sam Bowen (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Forest Hills Eastern).

Junior attacker Michael Mann (Plymouth, Michigan / University of Detroit Jesuit) chipped in two goals and two assists.

Junior midfielder Sean Cunningham (South Lyon, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central) and junior midfielder Blaine Hynde (Muskegon, Michigan / Catholic Central) had two goals apiece for the Flying Dutchmen.

Hope's next game is Saturday, March 25, at noon vs. Lake Forest College (Illinois) at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.
