Two matches, two wins.
The Hope College women's tennis team swept the day, picking up wins against Luther College and St. Lawrence University to improve to 5-5 overall this season.
The 5-4 win over Luther College had wins from No. 1 doubles and No. 2 doubles to put Hope up in points early.
Sophomore Sullivan Moran (Birmingham, Michigan / Wylie E. Groves HS) and freshman Amanda Lopykinski (Lemont, Illinois / Lemont Township) topped their opponent 8-2 in No. 1 doubles before the No. 2 doubles pairing of sophomore Miyako Coffey (Cedar Rapids, Iowa / Xavier) and senior Taylor Truman (Hudsonville, Michigan / Hudsonville) were victorious with an 8-6 win.
Hope swept the first three singles matches starting with Lopykinski winning 6-1 and 6-0 at No. 1 singles
Moran took down her opponent 6-1 and 6-2 at No. 2 singles.
Junior Annika Weeber (Rockford, Michigan / Grand Rapids Christian) clinched the win for the Flying Dutch in the first of two matches on Wednesday with 7-5 and 6-2 wins in the No. 3 singles slot.
Hope's No. 4 through No. 6 singles all took their opponents to three sets, eventually falling to their Luther College counterparts.
Hope earned their second win of the day in their final match in Florida 5-4 over St. Lawrence University.
The Flying mirrored their morning win by taking both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles wins over the Saints.
Lopykinski and Moran won their No. 1 doubles matchup 8-5, and then the No. 2 doubles pairing of Coffey and Truman toppled their St. Lawrence opponent 8-2.
Both Moran (6-1, 6-0) and Lopykinski (6-1, 6-2) picked up wins at No. 2 and No. 1 singles, respectively.
Weeber secured the Flying Dutch's win over the Saints with 7-5 and 6-2 victory sets to take the win at No. 3 singles.
Hope returns to Michigan to begin MIAA league play with a match on the road against Adrian College on Saturday, March 25 at 11 a.m.
