No (Illinois) Tech Problem for Men's Lacrosse In Road Victory

The Hope College men's lacrosse team stormed out of the Windy City with a 17-8 victory at Illinois Tech on Wednesday.

The Flying Dutchmen never trailed after scoring the game's first eight goals and taking an 8-0 lead after the first quarter.

Hope improved to 5-4 on the season with the non-league victory.

After Hope won the opening faceoff, midfielder Blaine Hynde scored 61 seconds into the game to give the Flying Dutchmen a 1-0 mark. It marked the fifth consecutive game with a goal for the junior from Muskegon, Michigan (Reeths-Puffer HS).

One minute later, senior attacker Colin Stecco (East Grand Rapids, Michigan / East Grand Rapids) struck again for a 2-0 lead.

Before the quarter ended, Hope received two goals from junior attacker Michael Mann (Plymouth, Michigan / Detroit Jesuit) and one apiece from sophomore midfielder Nick McCreery (Rockford, Michigan / Rockford), sophomore midfielder Owen Mueller (Traverse City, Michigan / St. Francis), sophomore midfielder David Brace (Plymouth, Michigan / Plymouth) and sophomore faceoff-specialist Caden Brainard (Muskegon, Michigan / Reeths-Puffer).

Mann finished with a game-high four goals.

Stecco and freshman Jack McNamara (Ada, Michigan / Forest Hills Central) totaled two goals apiece.

Stecco also recorded a game-high four assists.

Hope outshot Illinois Tech (3-3) by a 56-32 margin.
