The Rivalry to be Featured on LG Electronics Docu-Series

The episode premieres on Sunday, April 2, at 8 p.m.

Hope College fans can enjoy a unique look at "The Rivalry" through a special docu-series this month.

LG Electronics USA, an official partner of the NCAA®, is kicking off the second season of its popular series The Rivalries, a docu-series that offers an exclusive look into college sports' lesser-known but no less intense rivalries.

Season Two premieres on Sunday, April 2, at 8 p.m. ET with "The Rivalry," an episode that features Hope College and Calvin University in a basketball rivalry dating back to the 1920s. Encore presentations of "The Rivalry" will be on Sunday at 11 p.m. and Monday, April 3, at 2 a.m.

The Rivalries series is available free and exclusively on the NCAA Championships Channel (Channel 100) via LG Channels on LG Smart TVs. Each episode highlights a different sports rivalry as told through interviews, historical moments, and the most recent game footage.

Additional airings are:
  • Monday, April 3, at 7:37 a.m., 1:28 p.m., 11:36 p.m., and 5:17 a.m.;
  • Tuesday, April 4, at 11:20 a.m.;
  • Wednesday, April 5 at 12:02 p.m., 5:50 p.m., and 11:39 p.m.;
  • Thursday, April 6, at 7:26 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.
The documentary crew filmed on both Hope and Calvin campuses the days before and at the February 8 women's basketball game at DeVos Fieldhouse and the February 15 men's basketball game at Calvin's Van Noord Arena.

Hope won both games in "The Rivalry", defeating the Knights, 71-59, in the women's game and, 65-57, in the men's game.

The Flying Dutch cut Calvin's lead in the women's rivalry to 71-64 with their 16th consecutive victory. The Flying Dutchmen added a 61-54 victory at Calvin on February 25 in the MIAA Tournament title game to extend their lead in the men's rivalry to 109-101.

Less than one point per game separates both the Hope and Calvin women's and men's basketball teams after 135 and 210 games, respectively.

LG's exclusive content series is part of a three-year partnership with the NCAA, Turner Sports, and CBS Sports for category-exclusive marketing and distribution rights to NCAA Championship competitions that will expand the reach of college sports to legions of current fans and generations of new ones.
