Presented to the female athlete deemed to be the most exceptional during the year.
NOTE: The annual HOPEYs celebration of Hope College Athletics will be held on Monday, April 17, at 7 p.m. at DeVos Fieldhouse. The event is open to the public. Admission is free.
Sara Kraus, Women's Swim & Dive
As a sophomore, Kraus was named the MIAA Most Valuable Swimmer. At the MIAA Championships, she broke MIAA All-Time records in both the 100-yard and 200-yard Backstroke. She also swam under the record in her third individual event, the 200-yard Individual Medley. Kraus qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships where she earned All-American First Team honors in all three of her individual events. She was also a member of three relays at the NCAA meet that earned All-American Second Team recognition. Her time in the 200-yard backstroke at the MIAA Championships was the third fastest time posted in the country this season.Â
Claire Baguley, Women's Basketball
In her first season as a starter, Baguley averaged a career-high 12.4 points per game while shooting a career-best 62.7% from the field and 54.7% from 3-point range. She helped the team post a 26-3 record this season while clinching a share of the MIAA regular-season championship and winning the MIAA Tournament Championship. Baguley earned All-MIAA First Team honors and was named to the D3hoops.com All-Region Second Team. She also received Honorable Mention All-American recognition by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association to cap off her senior year.Â
Ana Tucker, Women's Cross Country and Women's Track & Field
Over the past year, Tucker has earned All-American honors in three sports - outdoor track, cross country, and indoor track. At the 2022 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Tucker ran to a fifth place finish in the 5,000 meters and finished in eighth place in the 10,000 meters. During the cross country season, she was the MIAA individual champion and named the MIAA Most Valuable Runner. She also raced to a first place finish at the NCAA Great Lakes Cross Country Regional and capped off the fall with a fourth place individual finish at the NCAA Division III National Championships. As a member of the indoor track team, Tucker won the 3,000 meters and 1-mile run at the MIAA Championships. This earned her a second MIAA Most Valuable Runner honor for the year. At the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships, Tucker was national runner up in the 1-mile run and finished in fourth place in the 3,000 meters. Throughout her career, Tucker has established seven school records and two MIAA records. Â
