Presented to the team deemed to be the most outstanding in a given year, finishing in the top of the NCAA Division III within their respective sport.  Â
NOTE: The annual HOPEYs celebration of Hope College Athletics will be held on Monday, April 17, at 7 p.m. at DeVos Fieldhouse. The event is open to the public. Admission is free.
Women's Cross Country
For the seventh consecutive year, the Flying Dutch won the MIAA Championship in 2022. The team raced to a winning total of 39 points, finishing 11 points ahead of the runner-up. Ana Tucker claimed the MIAA individual cross country title. Three more Hope runners placed in the Top 10 with four more finishing among the top 18. Six Flying Dutch earned All-MIAA honors. Hope received an at-large berth to the NCAA Division III Championships after running to third place at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional. They concluded their season with a 13th-place finish at the national meet.Â
Volleyball
The Flying Dutch received an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament where they beat No. 9-ranked Wittenberg and No. 10-ranked Washington University in St. Louis in the first and second rounds. Hope won the Regional Championship title with a 3-2 victory over No. 3-ranked Calvin. The Flying Dutch advanced to the national quarterfinal after beating three Top 10 teams in three days. Their season came to an end in the NCAA Quarterfinals with a 3-1 loss to eventual national champion Juniata. Hope finished sixth in the final American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III poll and concluded the season with a 24-8 overall record. Four Flying Dutch earned All-MIAA honors and Lauren Lee was named the MIAA Freshman Player of the Year.Â
Women's Swim & Dive
The Flying Dutch won the MIAA Championship in 2023 for the third consecutive year. The team posted one of their largest margins of victory in the history of the meet, finishing 276.5 points ahead of the runner-up team. During the meet, Hope broke 11 school records and three MIAA records. Eight swimmers and two divers were named to the All-MIAA Team. In addition, Sara Kraus was named the Most Valuable Swimmer and Abby Koops won the Most Valuable Diver. Nine swimmers and one diver qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships where they turned in 13 All-America performances over the four day meet. Hope finished in 10th place at the national meet, making it their highest team finish in 16 years.
