Four Named to College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Men’s At-Large Teams

Four Hope College student-athletes have been selected to the 2023 Academic All-District® Men's At-Large Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators: Seth Almquist from men's golf, and Blaine Hynde, Jake Maibuecher and Michael Mann from men's lacrosse.

The Academic All- America® recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All- America® honorees will be announced on Wednesday, June 21.

The Academic All-District® honor is a first for Almquist, Hynde, Maibeucher and Mann.

Almquist (Minneapolis, Minnesota / Wayzata HS) majored in environmental geochemistry and excelled on the golf course. The recent graduate helped the Flying Dutchmen finish 22nd at the NCAA Championships for the second consecutive season and win both the MIAA regular-season and tournament titles.

Hynde (Muskegon, Michigan / Reeths-Puffer) majored in mechanical engineering while playing midfield in all 19 games for the Flying Dutchmen. Hynde scored a career-high 12 goals and recorded five assists to help Hope win the MIAA Tournament title and compete in the NCAA Championships for the third time in program history.

Maibuecher (Chicago, Illinois / Notre Dame Prep) majored in nursing while playing midfield for the Flying Dutchmen. The recent graduate collected 20 ground balls and seven points on three goals and four assists.

Mann (Plymouth, Michigan / Detroit Jesuit) majored in public accounting and business while playing attack for the Flying Dutchmen. En route to his third All-MIAA recognition, including his second as a first-team selection, Mann reached 150 career goals by scoring a career-best 58 goals as a junior. Mann also recorded 39 ground balls and 26 assists.

The Division III CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Divisions III Academic All- America® programs.
