Women's Lacrosse to Face Denison (Ohio) In NCAA Championships Debut

The history-making Hope College women's lacrosse team will make its first NCAA Division III Championships appearance in the Windy City.

The MIAA regular-season and tournament champions will travel to the University of Chicago this weekend for postseason play

The Flying Dutch (12-5 overall) will face North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament champion Denison University (Ohio) in the first round on Friday, May 12, at 1 p.m. Central. Denison is 9-10 overall.

Friday's winner advances to play the host and 17th-ranked Maroons in the second round on Saturday, May 13, at 1 p.m. Central.

Led by head coach Keagan Pontious, Hope earned the MIAA's automatic berth after defeating third-seeded Saint Mary's College, 18-13, in the championship game on Saturday at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.

This is Hope's second all-time meeting against Denison and the first since the Flying Dutch's inaugural NCAA season in 2013 when Denison won, 17-1, at home.

There are 46 teams in this year's field, including 32 automatic qualifiers.
