Regionally-Ranked Men's Cross Country Soars to Third-Place Finish at Wheaton Invitational

The regionally-ranked Hope College men's cross country team ran to a third-place finish at the Wheaton College (Ill.) Gil Dodds Invitational on Saturday.

The Flying Dutchmen garnered 90 points and placed behind only regionally-ranked University of Chicago and nationally-ranked Washington University in St. Louis. Chicago totaled 43 points, while No. 20 Wash U had 50.


Two Hope runners recorded Top 10 performances.


Junior Connor Vachon (Jenison, Michigan / Jenison) clocked a fifth-place run of 24 minutes, 39.3 seconds.


Sophomore Ian Petruska (Fort Collins, Colorado / Fort Collins) posted a ninth-place effort of 25:11.8.


Three more sophomores rounded out the Flying Dutchmen's point total.


Nile Devers (Gobles, Michigan / Gobles) took 23rd at 25:36.5.


Carston Cole (Holland, Michigan / West Ottawa) placed 24th at 25:40.1.


Chad Perrine (Jackson, Michigan / Jackson) went 32nd at 25:47.4.


Nine more Hope runners finished in the Top 100 of the 294-runner field.
