Carter Dean Tops Men's Cross Country Pack at Knight Invite

Four Hope College men's cross country runners posted sub-28-minute runs during the Calvin University Knights Invitational on Friday at South Christian High School in Byron Center.

Sophomore Carter Dean (Traverse City, Michigan / Traverse City Central HS) led the Flying Dutchmen at the seven-team, 8K race by recording a 19th-place run of 27 minutes, 24 seconds.

Freshman Shane Pitcher (Saline, Michigan / Saline) clocked a time of 27:38.

Freshman Jack Leyden (Plymouth, Michigan / Salem) finished at 27:49.

Sophomore Andrew Tilly (Lemont, Illinois / Lemont Township) went 27:49.

Hope came in fourth place with 112 points. Calvin's Thaine Nederveld was the top individual at 25:06.

Three more Flying Dutchmen runners crossed the finish line in under 30 minutes.

Freshman Ethan Grevengoed (Spring Lake, Michigan / Spring Lake) posted a run of 28:35.

Sophomore Arman Khaledan (River Forest, Illinois / Oak Park River Forest) clocked a time of 28:36.

Freshman Yoezer Cassell (Indianapolis, Indiana / Covenant Christian) went 29:43.

Hope, ranked third in the Great Lakes Region, runs again on Saturday, Sept. 30, at the Greater Louisville Classic in Louisville, Ky.
