Sydney Vis Named MIAA Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week

Hope College forward Sydney Vis has been chosen as the MIAA Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week for the first time

The sophomore from Byron Center, Michigan (South Christian HS) is honored after helping the nationally-ranked Flying Dutch defeat Kalamazoo College, 109-42, and Alma College, 79-77 in double overtime, last week.

Vis averaged 13 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.0 assists over 24.5 minutes of play.

Against Alma, Vis scored a game-high 19 points, including nine consecutive points during the second overtime to secure a come-from-behind victory.

The Flying Dutch handed head coach Brian Morehouse his NCAA-record 700th win in his 795th game.

Against Kalamazoo, Vis helped the Flying Dutch record a season-high in points.

Vis leads the MIAA this season in steals with 33.
