The Hope College men's tennis team aims to continue building the momentum from last season.

The Flying Dutchmen are hungry for more after reaching the MIAA Tournament championship match for the fifth consecutive season.

In the previous four seasons, the Orange and Blue finished runner-up in both the regular season and the league tournament.

Hope went 5-1 in conference matches and 8-10 overall last season.

2024 Schedule

Hope has 11 non-conference matches before the MIAA season begins, including the spring break trip to the United States Tennis Association National Training Center in Orlando, Florida.

Hope takes on the MIAA schedule beginning on Saturday, March 23, at Albion College at 2 p.m.

The final five conference matches are on home court.

The Flying Dutchmen face off with regionally ranked and the reigning MIAA regular-season and tournament champions, Kalamazoo College, on Saturday, April 20, at 3 p.m.

2024 Roster

The Flying Dutchmen return seven to the roster but graduated all four of their All-MIAA honorees from last season: Jacob Burkett, Cameron Coates, Matt Henkel and Tyler Stafford.

The roster of 10 includes two seniors, four juniors, one sophomore and three freshmen.

Junior Austin Becksvoort (Holland, Michigan / Holland Christian HS) is Hope's top returner, with 13 wins while primarily playing No. 6 singles last season. He also went 2-6 in doubles play at the third flight.

Senior Justin Fay (Naperville, Illinois / St. Francis) earned seven wins last season while primarily playing No. 5 singles for the Flying Dutchmen. Fay also went 8-9 in doubles matches, mostly at the third flight.

Senior John Voss (Cincinnati, Ohio / St. Xavier) also brings depth to the roster as an experienced doubles player. He went 7-3 last season, including a 5-1 mark in MIAA play at the third flight.

Coaching Staff

Head Coach: Austin Hunt, 3rd season

Assistant Coach: Nate Price

Coach's Outlook

"We have plenty of returning players from last year as well as a good number of new freshmen that will look to contribute heavily in lineup positions. This team has a great amount of potential and it will be very exciting to see how the group gels as the season stretches on. It is the best mix of veterans and newcomers." - Austin Hunt
