Football Reaches 24th in AFCA Division III Poll

The Hope College football team joined the American Football Coaches Association Top 25 this week.

The 4-0 Flying Dutchmen totaled 167 points to make their second all-time appearance in the AFCA Top 25.

In 2000, Hope reached 24th in the November poll.

On Sunday, the Flying Dutchmen made their season debut in the D3football.com rankings at No. 23.

Hope's next game is Saturday, Oct. 5, at 1 p.m. against Trine University at Ray and Sue Smith Stadium. It's the college's annual Purple Community game benefiting Van Andel Institute.

Tickets can be purchased through the Hope College Ticket Office online or between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays by either calling (616) 395-7890 or in person at 100 East Eighth St.

Purple Community is Van Andel Institute's dynamic community awareness and fundraising program that connects individuals, schools, teams, companies and corporations, that want to join the fight against cancer and neurodegenerative diseases, to the resources needed for action.

One-hundred percent of the proceeds will go toward providing internships for Hope students at Van Andel Institute.
