Six Claim All-MIAA Football Honors on Offense, Chance Strickland Chosen as MVP

Six members of the MIAA-champion Hope College football team have been selected for the All-MIAA Football Offense recognition, including four first-team recipients and two second-team honorees.

Senior running back Chance Strickland (Mason, Michigan / Mason HS) headlines the first-team offense as the Most Valuable Player on offense.

Hope swept MIAA MVP honors for the second time in program history with senior linebacker Cole Luhmann (Rochester, Michigan / Stoney Creek) receiving the top defensive accolade.  Eight more standouts selected to the All-MIAA Team on defense.

MIAA coaches have selected a Most Valuable Player on offense and defense since 1984 and one Most Valuable honoree before that. In 2019, quarterback Mason Opple and linebacker Mason Dekker accomplished the feat.

Strickland is joined on the All-MIAA First Team by three fifth-year seniors: right tackle Dylan Clem (Stevensville, Michigan / Lakeshore), wide receiver Grant Holtzer (Okemos, Michigan / Okemos) and left tackle Luke Marsh (Montague, Michigan / Montague).

Senior running back Tyler Amos (Portage, Michigan / Northern) and sophomore H-back Seth Luhmann (Rochester, Michigan / Stoney Creek) made the All-MIAA Second Team.

Strickland led the MIAA in rushing at 111.6 yards per game and tied for first with eight rushing touchdowns over five league contests.

The 6-2, 235-pound business and economics major was the only MIAA running back to eclipse a 100-yard average. Strickland ranks among the national leaders in rushing touchdowns with 17 in eight games.

This is Strickland's second All-MIAA selection. He made the first team in 2023.

Clem and Marsh anchored the offensive line for the Flying Dutchmen, who led the MIAA in rushing offense at 266.6 yards per league game and tied for first with five sacks allowed.

The 6-3, 291-pound Clem earned All-MIAA First Team honors for the second consecutive season. The civil engineering major was a second-team selection in both 2022 and 2021.

The 6-6, 312-pound Marsh also is a four-time All-MIAA recipient. The special education major was a first-team honoree in 2021 and a second-team selection in 2023 and 2022.

Holtzer topped the MIAA in receiving at 106.4 yards over seven league games. The business major tied for second with six receiving touchdowns in MIAA play.

This is Holtzer's second All-MIAA award. He was a first-team selection in 2023.

The 5-9, 185-pound Amos ranked second in the MIAA in rushing yards at 72.7 yards per league game. The exercise science major also tied for the MIAA lead with eight rushing touchdowns.

The 6-0, 216-pound Luhmann claimed All-MIAA honors for the first time after catching three touchdown passes against league opponents and contributing to the Flying Dutchmen's MIAA-leading rushing offense.
