Peter Stuursma Named D3football Region 4 Coach of the Year

Hope College head coach Peter Stuursma has been chosen as the D3football.com Region 4 Coach of the Year.

Region 4 includes teams from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, North Coast Athletic Conference and the Ohio Athletic Conference.

This season, Stuursma guided the Flying Dutchmen to their first 10-0 regular season, their third MIAA championship since 2019, and their first victory in the NCAA Division III playoffs.

Hope finished with an 11-1 record after losing at top-ranked North Central College (Illinois) in the third round of the postseason.

Last month, Stuursma was selected as the American Football Coaches Association Region 4 Coach of the Year in NCAA Division III.

Stuursma has propelled the Flying Dutchmen in eight seasons to a 65-18 overall record (.783), including a 43-8 mark against MIAA opponents (.843).
