Linebacker Cole Luhmann Named to Associated Press All-American Team

Hope College linebacker Cole Luhmann has been chosen for the Associated Press All-America Football Teams for NCAA Division III.

The senior from Rochester, Michigan (Stoney Creek HS) is one of four second-team linebackers and 59 selections overall. 

Luhmann topped the MIAA-champion Flying Dutchmen with 87 total tackles in 12 games, including 36 solos, in 12 games. 

The mathematics major helped the Flying Dutchmen rank among the top defenses in NCAA Division III. Luhmann previously was selected as an American Football Football Coaches Association First Team All-American, MIAA Most Valuable Defensive Player and All-MIAA First Team.

Hope finished 11-1 after winning its first NCAA playoff game and reaching the third round of the postseason for the first time. The Flying Dutchmen also recorded their first 10-0 regular season.

Earlier, Luhmann was named to the American Football Coaches Association First Team and received all-region first-team honors from D3football.com.

Luhmann also was selected as the MIAA's Most Valuable Player on defense and to the All-MIAA First Team.
