Volleyball's Eva Hartung Earns NCAA Elite 90 Award

Eva Hartung's excellence for the Hope College volleyball team extends from the court to the classroom.

The senior from Lisle, Illinois (Naperville North HS) received the NCAA Elite 90 Award during Tuesday's banquet at the NCAA Division III Championships in Salem, Virginia.

The NCAA Elite 90 is awarded to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA at the finals site for each of the NCAA's 90 championships.

The program recognizes those who have not only excelled at a national championship level in their sport but have also achieved the highest academic standards among their peers.

A public accounting and business major, Hartung carries a 4.0 grade point average.

On the court, Hartung is a three-time letterwinner who has set career-highs this season in matches played (23), sets played (40) and digs (73).

Hartung is the second Hope volleyball student-athlete to claim the honor.

Jayne Kessel won the award in back-to-back seasons (2013-14).

There have been three other Hope Elite 90 recipients: Claire Baguley in women's basketball (2022), Michelle Kerr in women's cross country (2013 and 2015) and Chelsea Wiese in women's swimming and diving (2012).
