Volleyball Puts Four on AVCA All-America Teams

Hope College volleyball standouts Lauren Lee, Addie VanderWeide, Annie Lockett and Alison DeWeerd earned All-America accolades from the American Volleyball Coaches Association for the 2024 season.

Lee and VanderWeide both made the AVCA All-America First Team, while Lockett received third-team honors. DeWeerd was an honorable mention selection.

The formidable group powered the second-ranked and MIAA-champion Flying Dutch into the NCAA Division III national quarterfinals this week in Salem, Virginia. It is the third consecutive quarterfinal appearance for Hope (28-2).

Lee (Plymouth, Michigan / Skyline HS) is an All-American setter for the third time in her career and a first-team honoree for the second time.

The junior orchestrates the Flying Dutch attack and is ranked among the nation's elite with 11.39 assists per set.

A biology major, Lee made the AVCA All-American Second Team as a sophomore and the AVCA All-America First Team as a freshman.

VanderWeide (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Grand Rapids Christian) claimed AVCA All-America First Team recognition in back-to-back seasons.

The business major and 2023 AVCA Co-National Player of the Year leads the Flying Dutch in scoring at 3.97 points per set and kills at 3.50 kills per set. VanderWeide is hitting a .280 clip.

Lockett (Mason, Ohio / William Mason) received AVCA All-American Third Team distinction after averaging 2.92 kills per with a .290 hitting percentage.

The business major returned from an injury that sidelined her during the 2023 season. Lockett was an AVCA Honorable Mention All-America selection as a sophomore.

DeWeerd (Kentwood, Michigan / South Christian) earned AVCA All-America Honorable Mention honors for the second consecutive season.

The social work major topped Hope with a .368 hitting percentage while recording 2.79 kills per set.
