Women's Basketball Pushes Win Streak to Four, Conquers Olivet

A second-half offensive effort helped give the Hope College women's basketball team its second Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association win of the season, and fourth total win in a row on Saturday.

The 17th-ranked Flying Dutch tallied a 77-49 win over The University of Olivet on the road behind three double-digit performances.

Hope (7-2, 2-0) outscored the Comets by a 27-14 margin in the third quarter and held Olivet to just nine points in the fourth to secure the victory.

Senior Jada Garner (Midland, Michigan / H.H. Dow HS) picked up a team-high 14 points after going three-for-three from behind the arc. Garner dished out three assists in the win.

Freshman Leah Richards (DeWitt, Michigan / Lansing Catholic) pulled down a game-high 9 rebounds for Hope while chipping in 12 points.

Junior Sydney Vis (Byron Center, Michigan / South Christian) tallied 11 points and went a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line. Vis snagged seven rebounds against Olivet.

Olivet stuck close to the Flying Dutch in the first and second quarters, only trailing by four and three points, respectively.

Lily Connelly put up 21 of Oliver's 49 total points.

Hope returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 14, to host Saint Mary's College (Indiana) at 5 p.m. at DeVos Fieldhouse.
