MVP Jada Garner, Sydney Vis and Olivia Bellows Chosen to All-MIAA Women's Basketball Teams

Guard Jada Garner flourished in a new role as the starting point guard for a new-look Hope College women's basketball team this season.

Garner directed a new starting lineup for the Flying Dutch that went 23-2 overall and claimed an outright MIAA regular-season championship with a 15-1 league record. Hope won the MIAA by three games.

MIAA coaches rewarded Garner by selecting her as the league's Most Valuable Player and a first-team honoree. The junior from Midland, Michigan (H.H. Dow HS) is Hope's 13th MIAA MVP.

Garner is joined on the All-MIAA Teams by two teammates: sophomore forward Sydney Vis and junior guard Olivia Bellows

Vis (Byron Center, Michigan / South Christian) is a first-team honoree, while Bellows (Lake City, Michigan / Lake City) made the second team.

The 5-6 Garner contributed on the court in a number of different areas.

The exercise science major topped the MIAA in 3-point shooting during league games at 56.4% while playing 22.3 minutes per game.

Garner also averaged 9.4 points, 2.1 assists and 1.0 steals in MIAA play.

The 5-10 Vis led Hope in scoring during league games at 11.2 points per game while averaging 20.5 minutes.

Vis also contributed 5.0 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.0 assists during MIAA play.

The 5-6 Bellows came off the bench to average 10.3 points over 17 minutes during league games.

The elementary education major also grabbed 3.6 rebounds against MIAA opponents.
