The Hope College softball team continued their winning ways in Florida, snagging two more wins on Thursday.
The Flying Dutch improved to 10-5 after sweeping yet another day in the Sunshine State.
The now eight-game win streak for Hope is the longest since a 12-game win streak during the 2018 season.
Hope earned wins against Saint Norbert College, 2-0, and Catholic University, 8-6.
A two-run second inning in the win over Saint Norbert proved to be the deciding factor for Hope.
Freshman Sophie Stironek (Lake Orion, Michigan / Lake Orion HS), who found herself on base after being hit by a pitch, was sent home for the first score of the game after a triple from senior Jennaka Bultman (Shawnee, Kansas / Shawnee Mission).
Mady Pahl (Beaverton, Michigan / Beaverton) flew out on a sacrifice fly, which allowed Bultman to cross home plate for the final score of the game.
For the remaining five innings, it was a battle of the pitchers, with neither side allowing another run.
Senior pitcher Alaina Adams (Oak Creek, Wisconsin / St. Thomas More) went all seven innings in the circle for Hope.
Adams (3-0), threw out 72 pitches, and allowed only five hits through 25 batters.
Against Catholic, a six-run fifth inning fueled Hope's second win of the day, after being down 4-1 heading into the top of the fifth.
Four different Flying Dutch collected RBIs in the rally, highlighted by a Stironek triple that sent in three RBIs.
The high-scoring half of an inning was capped with an Olivia Miller (Hudsonville, Michigan / Unity Christian) single to right field that sent Stironek home, putting Hope up 7-4 with 2.5 innings left.
Both teams crossed the plate once more before the end of game, but Hope held on to secure the win.
Bultman (1-1), the winning pitcher over Catholic, allowed two hits and faced 10 batters in her 1.2 innings in the circle, before sliding back to first base to finish the game.
Senior Samantha Vermeesch (Ithaca, Michigan / Ithaca) picked up the save, slinging 38 pitches and striking out three.
Hope closes out its spring break play on Friday, March 15, against Case Western Reserve University at 11:15 a.m., and against Hood College at 3:45 p.m.
