Guard Jada Garner and Forward Sydney Vis Selected to D3hoops.com All-Region Teams

Hope College women's basketball teammates Jada Garner and Sydney Vis have been chosen to the D3hoops.com all-region teams.

Garner, a junior point guard, is one of five first-team selections in Region 7. Vis, a sophomore forward, is one of five second-team honorees in the region.

It's the 23rd season D3hoops.com has named All-Region teams. Honorees are eligible for All-America consideration.

Sports information directors from across the country nominated 812 men's and women's student-athletes. The all-region ballot was then made available to SIDs, who voted for a predetermined number of players in their region.

Garner (Midland, Michigan / H.H. Dow HS) helped the Flying Dutch win an outright MIAA regular-season championship and reach the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division III Tournament for the second time in three years.

The exercise science major averaged career-highs in points (9.7), rebounds (2.8), assists (2.3) and steals (1.4) in her first season as a starter.

Garner, who was named the MIAA's Most Valuable Player and an All-MIAA First Team selection, led Hope in minutes played with a career-high 23.4.

Garner also played in all 30 games for the Flying Dutch, who finished with a 26-4 record. She led the MIAA in 3-point percentage at 51.9.

Vis (Byron Center, Michigan / South Christian) also flourished in her first season in the starting lineup.

While playing in all 30 games, Vis topped Hope in scoring with a career-best 12.4 points per game and averaged a career-high 4.2 rebounds per game.

Vis joined Garner on the All-MIAA First Team.
