Box Score The Hope College men's tennis team picked up a 9-0 win at Alma College on Saturday that improved the Flying Dutchmen to 9-8 overall and 3-1 in MIAA play.
The victory was Hope's seventh sweep in a row and the ninth consecutive victory over the Scots.
The Orange and Blue started quick with three easy wins in doubles play.
Senior Justin Fay (Naperville, Illinois / St. Francis HS) and junior Austin Becksvoort (Holland, Michigan / Holland Christian) dominated at first doubles for an 8-3 victory.
At second doubles, freshman Rylan Doden (Fort Wayne, Indiana / Blackhawk Christian) and senior John Voss (Cincinnati, Ohio / St. Xavier) followed suit with another 8-3 victory.
At third doubles, freshmen Paul Schneider (Fishers, Indiana / Hamilton Southeastern) and Cooper Nugent (Rochester Hills, Michigan / Rochester Adams) earned the last doubles win at 8-4.
The Flying Dutchmen did not drop a set in singles play.
Fay cruised for a 6-2, 6-2 victory at first singles.
Schneider rolled 6-3, 6-0 at second singles.
Doden took down his opponent 6-2, 6-0 at third singles.
Nugent powered past his foe for a 6-3, 6-0 victory at fourth singles.
Becksvoort did not drop a game as he won 6-0, 6-0 at fifth singles.
Voss closed things out at sixth singles with a 6-3, 6-3 win.
Hope will return home for a showdown against MIAA unbeaten Calvin University on Friday, April 12, at 4 p.m.
