Eight Voted to All-MIAA Women's Lacrosse Teams; Julia Brown Offensive MVP

The MIAA-champion Hope College women's lacrosse team features a dynamic group of eight All-MIAA honorees.

The Flying Dutch received six first-team selections, including MIAA Offensive Most Valuable Player Julia Brown, and two second-team selections.

Brown, an attacker from Grand Rapids, Michigan (Forest Hills Central HS) is joined on the 13-player First Team by defender Caroline Curnutt, midfielder Molly Frederickson, midfielder Caleigh Randall, defender Mia Skibins and goalkeeper Maddie Yakes.

Attackers Juli Kirkpatrick and Elena Salazar made the 13-player second team.

Brown is Hope's first MIAA Offensive MVP and second MVP overall. Delaney Kirinovic '23 received the defensive honor last season.

The sophomore sociology major headed the Flying Dutch's MIAA-leading offense of 17.71 goals per game by tying for second in MIAA in goal scoring with 31 in seven games and finished fourth in points in 37.

Brown earned All-MIAA First Team honors for the second time. In 2023, Brown was named the MIAA Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Year.

This is Curnutt's second All-MIAA honor. The midfielder was a second-team selection as a freshman.

Curnutt (Fishers, Indiana / Heritage Christian) helped anchor Hope's league-leading defense that allowed only 6.86 goals per game in league play. The elementary education major totaled seven caused turnovers and 20 draw controls.

Frederickson (Alto, Michigan / Lowell) claimed All-MIAA First Team accolades for the second consecutive season and the second time in her career.

The senior physical and health education major tied for ninth in the MIAA in goal scoring with 18 in league games while also recording seven assists.

Randall (Lansing, Michigan / DeWitt) repeats as an All-MIAA First Team selection. 

The sophomore elementary education ranked second in the league with 48 draw controls during league play while also chipping in 13 goals and six assists.

This is the first All-MIAA honor for Skibins (Granger, Indiana / Penn).

The junior nursing major helped boost the Flying Dutch's stingy defense and recorded seven caused turnovers in six league games. Hope never allowed more than 10 goals to a league opponent this season and 10 just once.

Yakes (Rockford, Michigan / Rockford) earned All-MIAA accolades for the second team after being a second-team selection in 2023.

The senior neuroscience major went unbeaten in MIAA play while recording a league-best 54.1% save percentage in seven MIAA games. 

This is the second consecutive All-MIAA Second Team award for Kirkpatrick (Granger, Indiana / Penn) and the second overall.

The junior exercise science major ranked third in the MIAA with 14 assists in seven league games. Kirkpatrick also scored eight goals against MIAA opponents.

Salazar (Howell, Michigan / Hartland) is an All-MIAA recipient for the fourth time in her career and a second-team honoree for the first time.

The senior exercise science major totaled 17 goals and eight assists during six league games.
