Women's Soccer Takes Second in MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll

The Hope College women's soccer team is picked to contend for an MIAA title this fall.

The Flying Dutch placed second in the 2024 MIAA Preseason Coaches poll with one first-place vote and 16 points.

Coaches could not vote for their team. Calvin University topped the nine-team poll with eight first-place votes and eight points.

Hope finished ahead of third-place Trine University (29), Adrian College (32), Albion College (33), Kalamazoo College (37), Saint Mary's College (50), Alma College (55) and The University of Olivet (64).

Led by first-year head coach Holly Van Noord, the Flying Dutch are coming off a 10-2-6 season that includes a second-place 6-1-1 mark in MIAA matches.

Two All-MIAA First Team selections returned to the lineup: senior forward Carley Wagasky (Grand Haven, Michigan / Grand Haven HS) and junior forward Ainsley Harris (Zeeland, Michigan / Holland Christian).

Hope also brings back sophomore goalkeeper Clara Feenstra (Hudsonville, Michigan / Hudsonville), an All-MIAA Second Team honoree in 2023.

The Flying Dutch kick off the season on Friday, Aug. 30, at 7 p.m. at Centre College (Ky).

Hope's home opener is Monday, Sept. 2, at 1 p.m. vs. Carleton College (Minn.) at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.

Individual game tickets can be ordered through the Hope Ticket Office at 100 East Eighth St., in person, online, or by calling (616) 395-7890.
