Men's Soccer Rallies Past Concordia Chicago in the Windy City

The Hope College men's soccer team remained on a roll with a 2-1, come-from-behind victory at Concordia University Chicago on Friday.

The Flying Dutchmen extended their winning streak to three matches with the non-league victory. Earlier in the week, the Orange and Blue received votes in the United Soccer Coaches Poll for the first time this season.

After winning its first all-time meeting between the two teams, Hope improved to 5-1 on the season.

The Flying Dutchmen overcame an early strike from Concordia Chicago (1-2).

Filip Tokarz scored 2 ½ minutes into the match off an assist from Cristian Ibarra.

Hope trailed until freshman Jackson Mindling (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Grand Rapids Christian HS) evened the score in the 33rd minute with his fifth goal of the season.

Senior Cole Pauly (Mundelein, Illinois / Mundelein) registered the assist.

The Flying Dutchmen took the lead in the 63rd minute when junior Seth Walters (St. Joseph, Michigan / St. Joseph) notched his third goal of the season.

Pauly recorded the assist. It was Pauly's first multi-assist match.

Senior goalkeeper Daniel Hesselbein finished with four saves for Hope, including three during the second half.

The Flying Dutchmen return to action on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 2 p.m. Central at Eureka College (Illinois). Eureka is coached by Ryan Woodside '19, who played soccer for the Flying Dutchmen.
